A blinking text marker, bolded outline, moving arrow ("mouse cursor"), or reverse video highlight on a computer screen. The cursor generally indicates focus on a software user-input field that will respond to input from a text input or pointing device. The cursor can indicate to the computer-user what to do next in a software program.
